New Web Page Progress

We are now in the final stages of testing our new Web Site. While most of the changes are "backend" mods, there will be quite a few "frontend" mods that customers will notice:

  1. Re-Introduction of TekGear.Ca

This was the first domain we had but it took a backseat when we acquired the tekgear.com domain. By reintroducing TekGear.Ca we are going to reflect the stock status of our two warehouses (Winnipeg, MB & Pembina, ND) as well as quote prices in US and CDN funds.

It may not sound like much for our US customers but it should stop the deluge of emails from our Canadian customers who want pricing in CDN.

  2. Guaranteed In-Stock Program

Our industry is notorious for vapor-ware and phantom products. This not only causes confusion for customers it hurts the industry as a whole. Our mission has been to represent only products that are commercially available, can be purchased on an ongoing basis and have strong manufacturer's support behind them. These solid products are the foundation for growth of this industry.

We have also made it a priority to post information, such as datasheets, specs, price, and availability on every product on our web page. The Guaranteed In-Stock Program further reinforces our commitment to providing products in a timely manner and to instill a sense of confidence in the purchase process. A Guaranteed In-Stock icon will appear on every product page. Icons will reflect the quantity of product that we Guarantee is in stock at our warehouse and can be shipped that day. If we don't ship your order out on the day you order it, your shipping is free.

  3. Split Ship

There are times where we only have a limited amount of stock of a certain item or on multi SKU orders where one or more items may be out of stock. Instead of an all or none approach to shipping, we will offer the ability to split ship the order so that instock items can be shipped immediately while longer lead time parts can be shipped at a later date.

  4. More Shipping options

Until recently, we have been only able to use the UPS EDI in order to generate real time shipping quotes. The new page will have options for UPS, FedEx, and CanadaPost. Sorry no USPS yet. The shipping rates will also use the respective US and Canadian warehouses as a basis point resulting in lower shipping charges and the addition of domestic Ground level services.

  5. Format Change

The web page will be optimized for a 1024 x 768 resolution as <0.5% of all of our visitors use a lower resolution.
There are many more changes to come and the site should be live by the end of August.
